12m per Min (Chain Speed) is commonly used for Free Range rearing and layers as well as broilers The Independent Direct Drive units manufactured by Dalton Engineering have been in production since early 2001. They were developed with ease of maintenance being the primary objective, hence some of the unique design features. The motor used is a standard metric frame motor, which is readily available throughout the UK from any reputable motor supplier. If the chain should wrap around the drive wheel, or a solid object is trapped, then it is a simple operation to remove the shaft fixing bolt and knock the output shaft back and through the rear of the gearbox, allowing the drive wheel and drive arm to drop off, releasing the chain.
