The 2018 Disciples is a distinctive Napa Valley red from The Crane Assembly, built around Zinfandel and a wonderfully unconventional blend of Petite Sirah, Charbono, Grenache, Syrah and Merlot. The wine opens with strawberry preserves and floral aromas of lavender, violets and roses, followed by earthy notes reminiscent of freshly turned soil, warm granite after rain and petrichor. A subtle star-anise spice leads into tart raspberry and sweet plum flavours. The finish is long and dusty, with notes of strawberry cream, vanilla and caramelised sugar.
