Disocactus ( Epiphyllum ) anguligerDisocactus anguliger is recognised by flat green stems cut into deep, regular zigzags. The alternating lobes create the familiar fishbone pattern , while the surface remains smooth, lightly leathery and almost spineless. New sections begin narrow and upright, then widen and develop more pronounced angles as they lengthen.Older stems arch over the container and may trail for close to a metre, turning a compact young plant into a broad cascade of interlocking green shapes. Flowering-size growth can produce large cream-white blooms with long narrow outer petals, followed by oval green fruit. The combination is unusual even among epiphytic cacti: deeply lobed flattened stems and oversized flowers emerging from the edges of mature stems. Show more
