Artist Reflections I set up my camera to capture this photograph when the world around me was still black with night. At that time, there was nothing for the lens to capture. Yet I stood there with hope and certainty that the sun would illuminate the sky and reveal the hidden beauty lying before me. Humanity stands in darkness, recalling a long history of injustice and suffering. Yet we continue, with the faith that love and unity will inevitably pervade all of existence. The Jewish people, scattered around the world for thousands of years, have remained a nation held together by this faith. The sun is finally beginning to rise with the return of the Jewish people to Israel. I stand confidently in the darkness that remains with the certainty that the colors within the world around me will soon be revealed in their full splendor.
