LABEL: Reprise / WEAVINYL RELEASE DATE: 5/19/2015ORIGINAL RELEASE DATE: 2000VARIANT: Black Vinyl LP Disturbed claimed their place in the nu-metal hall of fame with their 2000 full-length debut, The Sickness. Naturally, a great deal of this comes down to the eternally awesome bruise-groove of the Chicago foursome’s signature “Down with the Sickness” (featuring vocalist’s David Draiman’s iconically feral “oooh-ah-ah-ah”). Still, the rest of the record is an all-killer introductory outing that features pensively judding anti-racism anthems (“Stupify”), funky beatdowns (“The Game”) and a murky-but-undeniably melodic reimagining of Tears for Fears’ “Shout.” It became clear quite quick that the metal world was totally down with Disturbed’s Sickness.
