You’ll barely get a second to catch a breath as our hometown band’s phenomenal sophomore ferociously pounds its aural assault of coarse, gnarled noise into your ears. Writing about this band is a near impossible task. For theirs is not music to be listened to. Theirs is music to EXPERIENCE. To FEEL. To LIVE. Fortunately, DITZ are one of those very rare acts whose sonic thwack has been cut convincingly into grooves so that, with the drop of a needle, you can inject them into your veins - as, despite a relentless touring schedule, it’s not possible to have them destroying your ears in person as often as you need. They have been said to treat the recording and release of music as an afterthought - often playing songs live years before their release, tweaking them as they go. It’s likely that this stratagem - or perhaps the absence of one - is what results in the recordings sounding so urgent, instinctive and gloriously guttural when finally captured. There are tracks that swell and boil over, tracks that thrust you against the wall, and tracks that unhurriedly escort you into the ether. They build and they build and they build. And eventually, after 10 immense songs, you might dare to breathe in… but Never Exhale. They’ve totally outdone themselves with this serrated triumph of a post-noise-post-punk-post-whatever (it leaves everything in its trail) zenith. Show more
