In the cast of Dividers, 4 cardboard IKEA magazine dividers are folded, flattened and configured in different arrangements as flattened compositions. The final outcome is cast in a constructed square box with concrete; varying sands and mixes of cement. Each individual work creates a grammar of shapes which echoes a brutalist vocabulary. The outcome echoes Modernist artworks such as monochrome, Suprematist artworks and geometric forms of a buildings’ modular design. The relief works can also be read as relics of a future that is already here, forming a speculative archaeology that marks the uncertain status of the office. Show more
