Kazuhide Takahama designed the Djuna Side Table for Cassina as a quiet conversation between two design traditions: the disciplined minimalism of his Japanese sensibility and the tu bular chromed steel vocabulary that defined European modernism in the 1920s. The elliptical top reads as both geometric precision and restrained gesture. Its proportions are considered without being calculated, arriving at a silhouette that feels inevitable. The chromed steel base anchors the composition with structural clarity, neither ornamental nor merely functional. Four finish options allow the table to shift in character while holding its essential form: Matte white lacquer, for a clean architectural presence Matte black lacquer, for depth and monochromatic resolution White Carrara marble, carrying the natural variation of Italian stone Black Marquiña marble, with the distinctive veining of Spanish quarries Each material choice changes the atmosphere of the piece without altering its identity.
