DMC has taken its stranded floss and added a sparkle - creating its latest range the DMC Etoile thread. It has a composition of 73% cotton 27% lurex and it feels and acts differently to both a metallic thread and a stranded cotton. It is a 6 stranded floss which is easy to separate into strands and comes in an 8m skein. 2 strands will give good coverage on a 14ct Aida. The "Etoile" or starry effect is very subtle - the thread just has a shimmer to it. It is softer and lighter than a normal stranded cotton and feels a bit "fluffy". There are 35 colours in the range and the threads are made in Italy.
