DNA ring | 9K solid yellow gold The double helix is the most recognisable shape in biology. Every cell in your body carries two copies of a 3.2 billion base pair genome, and every time it divides it unspools roughly 2 metres of DNA to copy itself. Solid gold is for people who want to carry it permanently. The Science Behind the DNA Double Helix Watson and Crick published the structure in 1953: the B-form of DNA, two antiparallel strands held together by base pairing (A-T and G-C) and stacked base interactions. DNA is remarkably stable under correct storage. Ancient DNA has been recovered from Neanderthal remains more than 400,000 years old. In living cells, an orchestra of repair enzymes maintains the helix, correcting mismatches and managing torsional stress as the helix unwinds during replication and transcription. The circular form of DNA found in bacteria, mitochondria, and chloroplasts has no free ends to protect, a topology that the ring form of this piece echoes. A Quiet Symbol For Researchers and scientists who wear jewelry daily and want something permanent: molecular biologists and geneticists scientists buying a significant, lasting piece anyone who wants to carry the structure that codes for life people for whom DNA is central to their work or identity Explore Related Genetics Jewelry DNA necklace H | silver DNA necklace V | silver DNA necklace V | gold vermeil DNA earring hoops S | silver FAQ Is solid gold DNA a luxury piece or a scientist's piece? It reads as both. But the power comes from meaning, not price. A molecular biologist or geneticist wearing solid gold DNA is making a statement about longevity and commitment: this is not a temporary piece, it is permanent like the DNA itself. Why is DNA the most iconic molecule? Because it is the physical basis of heredity and life. Every cell in your body contains it. Its discovery in 1953 and the complete sequencing of the human genome in 2003 represent watershed moments in biology. No other structure carries more meaning in science.
