Originally setting out to subvert the ‘Delftware’ pottery style, the core colour palette is inspired by the repetition of blue and white in the visual language of numerous cultures from Delft to Cornwall, Greece to China. Within these rules, subjects such as nature, family, memory, and myth are explored in chaotic, energetic compositions intended to surprise, even shock. The energy each piece transmits is different, and this diversity within a restricted palette has fascinated me in the development of the series.
