The fact that we are so divided by politics is deeply troubling to individuals who know and love people on both "sides" of the political spectrum. The path of extremism, anger, div isiveness, and hatred is all too frequently travelled, as if it's the only option. Independent thinkers, and people who are more centrist, moderate, and unaffiliated, walk a different path. They do not conform to the ways of the world that seek to cause division, spread fear, and incite animosity.
