Holes are cut into the outside ring, so it goes up on two small nails and stays level. Every piece is cut from 12-gauge steel, which is 3mm thick. Most online sign shops use 14 or 16-gauge, roughly half the thickness. Ours gets powder-coated after cutting, and that finish is rated around 20 years in direct sun before it needs redoing. Thin decor art from an online seller shows rust streaks down your siding after one winter. A 3mm powder-coated ring does not, which is why we only cut this design in 12-gauge.
