The story of the Rocca family started in Barbaresco during the 1940s, with Giacomo Rocca producing wines from the family vineyard, which continued over the years by his son. During the 1960s, Albino inherited a few sites around Barbaresco, mainly increasing the holdings of the Roccas. Furthered was the work his son Angelo put in the vineyards by limiting the number of herbicides and fungicides used. It ultimately pushes for better winemaking and ageing techniques. The first single-cru bottling happened in the 1980s with the 'Bric Ronchi' and 'Loreto' vineyards and, in 2004, only used the large 20 hectolitres barrels. Today, Monica, Daniela, Paola and Carlo run the estate. The fruits for this wine are growing in the hills of Barbaresco and San Rocco Seno d'Elvio in Alba, planted on marl and sandy, facing due East, South East from vines averaging 60 years of age.
