Souls must pay Charon – the ferryman – a fee to cross the River Styx. This myth, and this series, are about journeys. What we deem important and what we discard; what we take and what we leave behind; what we are willing to pay in order to continue onwards. The series continues to develop, born from rampant news of people fleeing hardships and crossing seas in precarious vessels. The boats in these works act as a metaphor for the human experience, to physically hold our shared existence. Crossing the River Styx is a tender look at humanity; all of our travels, our journeys, our strengths and frailties.
