Dominio de Pingus Flor de Pingus 2012 is a beautifully crafted Tempranillo from Ribera del Duero, offered here as a cellar release directly from Pingus’ own cellar. It stands out for its precision, purity of fruit, and remarkable balance between ripe concentration and freshness, reflecting both the character of old vines in La Horra and the meticulous approach that has made the estate so highly regarded.MakuprofiiliIn the glass, the 2012 vintage shows a deep ruby color with garnet highlights at the rim. The nose is layered and inviting, opening with dark cherry and blackberry, followed by touches of toasted wood, mocha, and a subtle smoky nuance. On the palate, the wine is full and concentrated yet remains refined and elegant, with mature tannins, lively acidity, and a warm, complex mid-palate. The finish is long and persistent, carrying dark fruit, spice, mineral notes, and a delicate hint of vanilla from oak aging. This is a wine with excellent aging potential, likely to continue developing nuance and harmony over time.ViininvalmistusFlor de Pingus 2012 comes from old Tempranillo vines in La Horra, one of the most respected areas of Ribera del Duero in Castilla y León. The vintage benefited from warm, sunny conditions balanced by cool nights, helping preserve freshness while allowing the grapes to reach full ripeness. Yields are naturally low, contributing to the wine’s concentration and depth. The wine was aged for approximately 14 to 18 months in a combination of new French oak and barrels previously used for Flor de Pingus and Pingus, with malolactic fermentation carried out in barrel to support a polished texture and elegant structure.Ruoka & tarjoiluThis wine pairs exceptionally well with roasted lamb, grilled beef, game, braised short ribs, and rich mushroom dishes. It also works beautifully with aged cheeses and slow-cooked Iberian-inspired cuisine. Serve at 16–18°C, and consider decanting for 1 to 2 hours to allow the aromatics and structure to खुल fully open.TuottajaDominio de Pingus was founded by Danish winemaker Peter Sisseck and quickly became one of Spain’s most admired names, especially in Ribera del Duero. The estate is known for producing wines of extraordinary intensity, precision, and finesse, with Pingus often cited among the great cult wines of the world. Flor de Pingus has become a benchmark bottling in its own right, praised for offering much of the estate’s signature character in a more accessible style.
