Melly’s Workplace is a registered Canadian charity and will provide an official donation receipt for income tax purposes. Charitable registration: 83808 1552 RR0001. At Melly’s, donations fund a clear pathway to work experience for youth and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities through our Interactive Workplace Development Program and S.T.E.P Forward for Teens program, delivered inside Melly’s Market + Café. Apprentices progress through three stages: Caterpillar: the “keep the job” foundations, like reliability, communication, accepting feedback, time management, personal presentation, and building independence (including transportation). Cocoon: hands-on workplace skills in a real customer-facing environment, like customer service, POS and cash handling, merchandising, inventory, food safety, and daily operations. Butterfly: job readiness and job matching, including employer partnerships, workplace accommodations, and coaching that supports a confident transition into community employment. Your donation directly supports: Job coaching and individualized supports before, during, and after graduation. Paid work opportunities and skill-building shifts that turn learning into fluency Employer partnerships that reduce hiring risk and increase long-term success Ongoing coaching for life: apprentices can return any time for job coaching as their goals evolve, new roles come up, or supports need to change Every gift helps someone build skills, gain real work experience, and move into meaningful employment beyond Melly’s, with the right support in place to succeed.
