A compact fern with great colour and an interesting shape, the Doodia ‘Rough Ruby’, also known by a few other names such as Hacksaw Fern or Prickly Rasp Fern. It is an evergreen perennial with lovely arching pinnate or cut leaves which emerge as a bright red-pink, before maturing to their more standard glossy dark green hue. Great as a low growing option to act as groundcover and density around other bedding or border plants. Plant in moist, well-drained, preferable somewhat acidic soils. Keep partial shaded and consider mulching or keeping sheltered under glass to protect from harsh frosts and Winter winds.
