The Doorway Fire Shutter for Flexible Structures is a specialist fire protection system designed for installation into timber stud partition walls, providing certified compartmentation for door openings where traditional rigid construction is not present. Engineered and tested as a complete assembly - including the shutter, substrate, and cill detail—this system ensures compliance with UK fire safety standards while maintaining performance within flexible building structures. Available with fire resistance ratings of E60 and E90 (integrity), and achieving a radiation classification of EW20 (restricted to direction of exposure) for openings up to 2500mm wide x 2400mm high, it provides effective protection against both fire spread and heat transmission. Tested in accordance with BS EN 1634-1 and classified under EN 13501-2, this system must be installed strictly in line with the tested timber stud wall specification. This includes correct wall build up, insulation, and cill construction to ensure the shutter performs as certified in the event of a fire. It is important to note that this system is only suitable for timber stud walls and does not apply to metal stud partitions, making accurate specification essential for Building Control approval and compliance. The system is available with two motor options to suit a range of doorway sizes. Tubular motor fire shutters are suitable for openings up to 2500mm wide x 2400mm high, offering a compact solution with integrated safety features including battery backup, manual override, fire alarm relay, and audio-visual warning. For larger openings, industrial motor fire shutters can accommodate sizes up to 7000mm wide x 7000mm high, featuring a fusible link, solenoid release, audio-visual warning system, and chain override. Together, these configurations provide a flexible, compliant, and reliable fire shutter solution for doorway openings within timber-based structures.
