The clear plastic sleeve in front of the Dope Thing allows you to see your dope whenever needed. There are extra cards to record data from different situations as well as rifles. The elastic on the back of the Dope Thing allows you to thread it onto your sling anywhere and the Dope Thing is always there yet out of the way.
