Very few names loom larger in Italian aromatized wine than Giulio Cocchi (pronounced COKE-ee), who began producing his wines in 1891 in Asti. His bottlings became world-renowned du ring the Belle Epoque, and the solidification of cocktail culture, but at their core, his wines are still meant to be drank as aperitif wine. Enjoyed over ice, straight-up, or with soda/tonic, his wines are, to this day, wonderfully enjoyable. Considered an "evening vermouth" by Cocchi, 'Dopo Teatro' was produced with wormwood, rhubarb, chiretta, and a double infusion of cinchona, along with the addition of Barolo Chinato— which adds a red wine nuance to the vermouth.
