The first release by Sydney's DOUBLE DATE is a six-track cassette recorded at the Boom Boom Room by Sam Foster. Members of the band previously played together or separately in grou ps such as BASIC HUMAN, EX-COLLEAGUE, DORA MAAR and countless other projects going back to the late-2000s. Playing together since 2023, many of these tracks were initially formed around drums, bass and synth, the latter of which was replaced with guitar prior to their first show. DOUBLE DATE is Verónica’s first time singing, Lauren’s first time drumming and Del’s first time on guitar, with Max joining on bass, with sounds recalling locals like NAKED ON THE VAGUE and RULE OF THIRDS to international contemporaries BARRERA and SPECIAL INTEREST.
