North American Rescue · Casualty Drag Device Dragon Handle System An 11.3 oz linear-drag extraction device built on 1-inch Tech Tape, extending to 42 inches with two weather-proof handles and a floating bull ring for attachment. It gives a rescuer a real grip on a downed casualty instead of a fistful of collar, so the drag happens with correct posture and one hand free. North American Rescue rates the system to a 1,443 lb minimum break strength and catalogs it under NSN 6530-01-598-9595. 1,443 lb min. break strengthNSN 6530-01-598-959511.3 oz · 42" extendedLinear drag only The manufacturer's own limit is the most important line on this page: it is a drag device, not a hoist. Rigged for lifting, a 42-inch handle system is outside everything it was tested to do. What's Included One drag device with its carabiner. No harness, litter or medical supplies are included — the Dragon Handle System is the handle half of an extraction, not the patient-packaging half. This is the figure that describes the assembled device Tensile strength of the 1" Tech Tape material: 4,000 lb, as published by North American Rescue. This is a property of the webbing, not a rating for the assembled system — do not read it as a working load Black Omega non-locking D-carabiner: 31 kN Neither figure is a working load limit. North American Rescue publishes no working load limit or safe working load for this device on the source page Manufacturer use limit, stated verbatim on the legacy page: designed exclusively for linear personnel-recovery drags — not for hoisting or lowering operations Manufacturer inspection requirement: inspect all stitching and webbing before and after every use Extended length 42" — enough reach to drag without bending to ground level, which is what keeps the rescuer's posture and body mechanics correct NSN 6530-01-598-9595; made in USA ▾Specifications Dragon Handle System — specifications Specification Detail Manufacturer North American Rescue SKU 90-0004 NSN 6530-01-598-9595 Weight 11.3 oz Packaged dimensions 6.3" H × 4.1" W × 2.25" D Extended length 42" Minimum break strength (system) 1,443 lb Webbing 1" Tech Tape, 4,000 lb tensile strength (material property, not a system rating) Carabiner Black Omega non-locking D-carabiner, 31 kN Handles 2 weather-proof flexible; floating bull ring for adjustable attachment Intended use Linear personnel-recovery drags only — not for hoisting or lowering Origin Made in USA The 1,443 lb minimum break strength and the 4,000 lb Tech Tape tensile figure are two different measurements and are published as such by North American Rescue. Scope matters here more than usual. North American Rescue states this device is for linear personnel-recovery drags and is not for hoisting or lowering — do not rig it into a vertical system, a rope rescue anchor or a confined-space retrieval that puts the casualty's weight on it in suspension. It provides no patient packaging and no spinal support; where the casualty must be protected rather than moved fast, package them on a litter. Inspect stitching and webbing before and after every use, as the manufacturer requires, and pre-attach the system before entry rather than fumbling for an attachment point under fire.
