DRI Masonry is a nanotechnology water-based hydrophobic self-assembling treatment for masonry. The product creates a high contact angle against water and shows a very effective wat er/liquid repellent effect. How It Works DRI Masonry chemically bonds with concrete and masonry substrates and becomes invisible once dry so there is no visible change to the surface. It preserves the breathe ability of the substrate. DRI Masonry's penetration and subsequent chemical reaction with the concrete allow it to provide long term protection for concrete and masonry substrates, by significantly reducing the ingress of liquid, water and any dissolved salts that the water may carry. This product prevents the ingress of liquid water carrying chloride ions. Old, moss and algae invested substrate should be cleaned with high pressure water. Efflorescence must be removed. Contact with solvent borne impregnating agents e.g. residue in application equipment or with tin compounds must be avoided. On new concrete or masonry special surface preparation is normally not required The most suitable application for the water-repellent treatment of masonry include spraying, dipping, and flow coating, or brushing. Avoid overspray or splashes on adjoining surfaces or surfaces not to be treated. It is very important to apply a significant amount to the substrate to get the penetration deep. Two coats wet on wet should be applied. On standard concrete 200 ml/m2 must be applied. The concrete must be treated to full saturation. The product will penetrate slowly and completely into the concrete. Product sitting on the surface during the application is not an issue and will penetrate as well. Vertical surfaces like facades should be treated from the ground up. Do not apply in bad weather conditions. Impregnation needs 2 – 3 hours to be rainproof. We are not recommending the use of paint rollers because such application methods tend to apply inadequate volumes.
