Isopods love dried Black Soldier Fly larvae! Crush and feed a few pieces of larvae onto the dry side of your isopod bin, and watch the isopods swarm the larvae. If the colony of isopods is less than 100 isopods, start off by feeding one piece of dried larvae. These are 100% dried Soldier Fly larvae with no additives. NOT FOR HUMAN CONSUMPTION. For a thriving isopod colony, provide a one- to two-inch layer of thin leaf litter, such as maple and cottonwood leaves, provide a source of calcium such as calcium carbonate, cuttlebone, or crushed eggshells, and mist the damp side of the bin as necessary so the bin does not dry out. How often you need to mist is going to be dependent on your climate. Treats such as Isopod Feast, bee pollen, freeze-dried peas, vegetables (carrots, squash, pumpkin), and dried protein (dried minnows, fish food flakes, etc.) can be provided in very small amounts once a week. Do not overfeed treats as it encourages gnats, mold, and other pests. Ships free with live animal purchases.
