Drift is the sister matcha to Ember, crafted by the same Yame producer using tencha dried in a traditional brick kiln. While both teas share the same careful craftsmanship, Drift offers a different expression through its blend of Yabukita and Saemidori cultivars. The name Drift reflects both the sensory character of the tea and the traditional process behind it. The matcha carries a subtle oceanic quality. Fresh, airy, and gently reminiscent of coastal breeze and delicate seaweed. At the same time, the name echoes the slow movement of the brick kiln’s belt conveyors, where the tencha leaves gradually travel through hot air as they are gently dried. This slower, hands-on technique preserves the depth of aroma while allowing the leaves to develop their layered character. We are honored to share this pair of sister matcha and invite you to explore how cultivar blending can create remarkably different expressions from the same place and craft.
