Varroa mites are known to be attracted to drone brood more than worker brood. The Drone Comb Frames are green and the foundation features a larger cell pattern encouraging the bees to build drone comb. If you prefer to avoid chemicals, just place one of these frames in your hive, remove it once the drone brood is capped, then freeze it to kill any mites trapped inside. Scrape off the cappings, place the frame back into the hive and let the workers clean it and prepare it for reuse.
