Drosera capensis 'Bot River SG' is a seed-grown line of this classic South African sundew from the Overberg Sandstone Fynbos of the Western Cape, carrying the same elongated, spatulate leaves and crimson tentacles that define the species' Bot River form. Grown from seed rather than division, plants in this line show the natural variability collectors expect from seed-grown stock while staying true to the vigorous, easy-going character that makes Bot River capensis a staple of any collection. Care Requirements Light — Full sun, 6+ hours of direct sunlight daily. A south-facing window, outdoor placement, or grow lights work well. Water — Pure water only, under 50ppm dissolved solids. Use distilled, reverse osmosis, or collected rainwater. Most tap water will not work. Use the tray method — keep roots sitting in a shallow tray of water. Soil — Pure peat moss or long-fiber sphagnum, with optional perlite or sand added for drainage. Garden soil will not work. Dormancy — Varies by species. Temperate Drosera require 3–4 months of cool winter dormancy. Tropical and subtropical species grow year-round and do not require dormancy. Humidity — Moderate to high humidity preferred.
