The human GUT microbiome is fast becoming a focal point of health research, with ties to many chronic health conditions, including Type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular diseases, chronic inflammatory conditions, immune and autoimmune conditions, GUT issues, brain disorders (mood, cognition, inflammation), exercise performance and aging. Scientists are pointing to imbalances in our natural GUT flora (microbiome) – the bacteria and other “bugs” that reside normally in our digestive tract (or GUT) – as a major reason our metabolic networks get out of “sync” and chronic health conditions begin. Microbiome disruption is also referred to as “dysbiosis”. When the microbiome is disrupted by environmental toxins high sugar and high saturated fat diets, an overgrowth of yeast (Candida) and other “unfriendly” microorganisms can occur that places stress on the communication between the GUT-IMMUNE -BRAIN network and this can lead to disrupting other network issues.
