In 1986, cheesemakers in Murcia set out to craft a unique regional cheese with strong commercial appeal. They began with a traditional local goat cheese and soaked it in Doble Past a, a robust red wine from the region, for three days. The outcome was a remarkable success—both in flavor and in the market—bringing recognition and investment to the area. Aged for approximately 75 days, this semi-soft cheese offers a smooth, subtly sweet taste. Known in the U.S. as Drunken Goat®, it was the first Queso de Murcia al Vino DOP to be imported and is made from the highest-quality Murcian goat's milk.
