However, backward compatibility with Game Boy Advance titles and strong sales ultimately established it as the successor to the Game Boy series. AMAZING DISPLAY Nintendo introduced a new distinctive feature to the handheld gaming community: two LCD screens working in tandem, the bottom one being a touchscreen. Both screens are encompassed within a clamshell design similar to the Game Boy Advance SP. OUTSTANDING PARTICULARITIES Besides the dual screens and touchpad, the console has a built-in microphone and support for wireless connectivity. The Nintendo DS also features the ability for multiple DS consoles to directly interact with each other over Wi-Fi within a short range without the need to connect to an existing wireless network. GREAT MEMORY AND STORAGE The console has a 4 MB PSRAM expandable via the Game Boy Advance slot as well as 256 kB of serial flash memory, all in order to assure you a smooth and enjoyable game play. Nintendo DS- Games With over 2000 game titles and backwards compatibility with the Game Boy Advance, the Nintendo DS won over the hearts of many, providing generations with endless gaming possibilities. MARIO KART Nintendo DS Lite Like other games in the series, Mario Kart DS features characters from the Mario series, and pits them against each other as they race in karts on tracks based on locations in the Mario series. Linebeck. ANIMAL CROSSING: WILD WORLD Nintendo DS Lite The second installment in the Animal Crossing series, Wild World focuses on living in a remote village populated with anthropomorphic animals, where the player character is encouraged to perform any number of tasks, such as collecting and planting. The game is synced to the console’s clock and calendar, allowing the game to be played in real-time, which affects the occurrence of in-game events based on the current time of day or season. Nintendo DS- Fun Facts All Nintendo DS models combined have sold 154.02 million units, making it the best-selling handheld game console to date, and the second best-selling video game console of all time behind Sony's PlayStation 2 with 155 million. The Nintendo DS had a lot of name changes in its development, almost being caled Iris after the Japanese flower, Nitro based on the abbreviation NTR of Nintendo’s hardware and City Boy, thinking that it would appeal more to young adults. The name of the console came to be Nintendo DS due to 2 meanings: Developer System and Double Screen.
