Duckweed is the smallest floating pond plant. The leaves are a bright green and only reach 1/8 inch in diameter. Duckweed is a favorite treat for your fish and a favorite food for turtles. Duckweed forms specialized buds called turions in the fall. These starchy structures sink to the bottom of the pond and lie dormant through the winter.
