(Add 1.375" to each side for overall framed dimensions) 3- Stretched Canvas - Printed on premium-grade canvas with a 1 1/2" gallery wrap & wire hanger- ready to hang. Click here for close ups of frames About the Print From the Artist, Kathleen Broaderick: Ever wonder why the sand on 30A is so ridiculously white? Over 20,000 years ago, at the end of the last Ice Age, water from the Appalachian Mountains began flowing south through the Apalachicola River, carrying tiny quartz crystals with it. These crystals traveled over 500 miles down to the Gulf of Mexico. When the quartz reached the coast, the heavier sediments sank while the lighter particles stayed behind, forming our shoreline. The Apalachicola River is still doing this today, still bringing down quartz, still making our beaches what they are. Thousands of years of waves and tides grinding against those crystals gave us sand so fine it squeaks when you walk on it. Some people say quartz has healing properties—it does look pretty magical. This painting is my love letter to those dunes and the ancient journey that created them.
