Duotone Cosmic SUP Hardboard The Duotone Cosmic is a performance all-wave SUP surfboard for paddlers who want one hardboard that can handle a wide range of surf conditions. It is designed to be stable enough to help you get into waves cleanly, but still responsive enough to push harder turns as your SUP surfing improves. This is the more accessible model in the Cosmic range, sitting below the lighter and more technical Cosmic SLS. Choose the Cosmic if you want a proper wave-focused hard SUP with a balanced thruster setup, strong everyday construction and a more forgiving feel underfoot. Move to the Cosmic SLS if you want the lightest construction and extra fin setup options for more advanced tuning. Who is the Duotone Cosmic for? The Cosmic suits SUP surfers who want a board for mixed surf rather than a very narrow, specialist shape. It is a good option for improving wave riders, intermediate paddlers moving down from a larger all-round board, and experienced riders who want a stable, dependable surf SUP for everyday UK conditions. It is not the right board if you mainly paddle flat water, want long-distance glide, or need the convenience of an inflatable board. For those uses, browse our paddle board collection or compare options in our composite paddle board range. The Cosmic is built around a useful balance: enough width and deck stability to make wave SUP realistic, but enough outline curve and tail response to keep the board lively once you are on the wave. The nose helps you paddle in and deal with choppy take-offs, while the tail and bottom shape are there to keep the board loose and responsive through turns. For UK paddlers, that matters. A surf SUP that is too narrow or too low in volume can feel brilliant for a few seconds on a perfect wave, but frustrating for the rest of the session. The Cosmic is designed to make more sessions work, not just the cleanest ones. Size guide Size Volume Width Weight Best suited to 8'0" x 30" 108L 30" / 76.2cm 7.3kg approx. Choose the Cosmic if you want the best value route into Duotone’s new all-wave SUP surf shape. It gives you the same overall surf-focused direction, a dependable thruster setup and a construction that makes sense for regular use. Choose the Cosmic SLS if you want the lighter, stiffer, higher-end construction and the extra tuning options of a 4+1 fin box system. The SLS is the premium upgrade for riders who are more sensitive to weight, flex and fin setup changes. Try before you buy A surf SUP is a very personal board choice. Your height, weight, local break, balance and current board all matter. If you are unsure which Cosmic size is right for you, speak to our team or visit the The SUP Company Test Centre at Woodmill for practical advice before committing. FAQs Is the Duotone Cosmic good for beginners? The Cosmic is not a first-time paddleboard for flat water. It is aimed at paddlers who want to SUP surf. That said, the wider outline and stable deck make it more accessible than many very narrow performance surf SUPs, so it can work well for improving wave riders. What is the main difference between the Cosmic and Cosmic SLS? The Cosmic uses Custom CNC construction and a 2+1 thruster fin setup. The Cosmic SLS is the premium version, with a lighter Full Custom SLS construction and a 4+1 fin box system that allows more tuning options, including thruster, quad, twin and twin plus trailer setups. Does the Duotone Cosmic come with fins? Yes, the Cosmic includes a thruster fin set. Paddle, leash, board bag and rail tape are not included unless listed separately as part of a specific package. Which size should I choose? As a simple guide, smaller and more experienced riders can usually look towards the 8'0" or 8'4", while larger riders or those wanting more stability should consider the 8'8" or 9'2". If you are unsure, send us your height, weight, current board and the type of waves you want to ride. Can I use the Cosmic for flat-water paddling? You can paddle it on flat water, but that is not what it is built for. If your main use is touring, fitness or relaxed cruising, you will be better served by a longer all-round, touring or composite paddleboard. Do I need rail tape on a hard SUP surfboard? We strongly recommend it. Composite SUP surfboards can pick up paddle marks and rail chips over time, especially when used in surf, on slipways or around rocky launches. Rail tape is a small upgrade that helps keep the board looking better for longer.
