Bates was head chef there when Miranda travelled over from London in 2009, and what began as a conversation between two people who cared about food and drink turned into a plan to build something back home. That something is Duration: a derelict medieval barn on the West Acre Priory estate in Norfolk, restored over more than two years and turned into a working farmhouse brewery, brewing on its own site since the end of 2019.Now an independent farmhouse brewery built around time, place and produce from the surrounding Nar Valley, Duration works farm to glass rather than to a fixed range.
