The Duress series focuses on the damage done to the environment at these three sites by Man’s greed, short term thinking and cavalier attitude about the planet we share with other living things. My focus is on the present visual manifestations of the damage done. I hope my photographs of Mono Lake, the Salton Sea and the Great Salt Lake, which will all be transformed for the worse unless we get the political will to reverse the heating up of our planet, will move other people as much as photographing them moved me. I photographed these environments in their transitioning state to call attention not only to the obvious signs of struggle, but to the remaining beauty as well.
