Dusk by Thomas A. Woodring is a three movement four mallet solo scored for 5-octave marimba depicting that darkening time of the day. The first movement, Shadows, is meant to be ve ry expressive and ethereal, making use of all the timbres available on the marimba. The second movement, Night Song, is meant to reflect how beautiful things at night can be through a single-line, lyrical melody.
