If you don’t have a suitable fridge, you can leave your worm pots or bags on a cold garage floor. Whilst enough soil is supplied with the Dendrobaenas to keep them fresh, turning the soil or adding new soil from the garden every week will help prolong their lifespan. Adding moss or pieces of shredded newspaper to your worms will also regulate moisture levels within the containers which helps them breath. Worms need food to survive long periods of time! If you’ve not used your worms more than a week after purchase, add small pieces of potato or apple to their containers to give them a tasty snack. Don’t put damaged worms back into the container with other worms. This can hamper the freshness of all worms in the container.
