Turbo vs. Surge Power Explained Turbo mode delivers up to 20kW of sustained output for up to 90 minutes and is designed to handle high, whole-home electrical demand. Turbo requires two battery packs per E10 unit — a Dual E10 system needs four battery packs total to enable full 20kW Turbo output. Surge (LRA) power is different. Surge is short-duration startup power used to start motor-driven appliances like HVAC systems, well pumps, and compressors. Surge output is momentary, while Turbo is sustained power meant for running larger household loads.
