Released in 1979 after a famously grueling three-year recording process, The Long Run captured a band fraying at the seams, and in hindsight the tension is audible. Don Felder, Gle nn Frey, and Don Henley were barely speaking by the time it wrapped, and the Eagles would dissolve within a year of its release, not reconvening until 1994. The long-awaited follow up to Hotel California and The Eagles' last studioalbum proved a considerable disappointment, though it sold in the expected multimillions and included the hits Heartache Tonight, the Long Run, and I Can't Tell You Why.
