The prefabricated fluorescent light fixture became an element in contemporary art -- through the work of such artists as Dan Flavin and Robert Irwin. Its utilitarian form allowed t hese artists to explore light without focusing on structure. These earrings pay homage to this fixture and the art it inspired.
