Our Traditional Easter Biscuits are a celebration of an old West Country recipe. Handmade in small batches using time-honoured methods, each biscuit is carefully mixed, rolled and baked to achieve that perfect texture: lightly crisp at the edges with a tender, buttery crumb at the centre. What sets them apart is their distinctive flavouring of cassia oil. A warming, aromatic spice with soft cinnamon notes that has long defined the character of traditional Easter biscuits. It’s fragrant rather than overpowering, lending a subtle sweetness and comforting depth that lingers beautifully on the palate. Studded with plump currants and finished with a light scattering of sugar for a gentle crunch, they strike that perfect balance between spice and sweetness. Delicious with a cup of tea, shared after a long spring walk, or gifted as part of an Easter table, these biscuits are a true taste of tradition. Simple, honest, and made properly. Cassia oil is a traditional Somerset recipe passed down through generations. Easter biscuits derived from Somerset and most now replace the cassia oil with cinnamon but this is the original way!
