Incentive Create Easter prints using polystyrene trays and paint -Line-Shape-Space-Colour-Texture Supplies Art Paper Polystyrene tray (veggie holder) with edges cut off for a complete flat surface. (Approx 12cms x 15cms) Pencil Paint Paint brush and sponge Craft glue, scissors and coloured paper if requiring a backing. Lesson 1 Paint art paper with either light cool colours or warm colours. Watered down paints are best for this as they spread easily and blend nicely. Leave this to dry. 2 Use a pencil to draw an Easter picture onto the polystyrene surface. Keep the picture simple and lines not too close together. You could display images of simple Easter pictures for the children to use as ideas…Easter eggs, bunnies, chicks, Easter baskets are usually easy enough. Once happy with the picture, use the pencil to press the outline into the polystyrene surface deeply but not to go right through. 3 Place contrast dark colour (blue, black or deep purple) on a sponge. Use paint brush to spread paint evenly over the sponge. Press the picture side of the polystyrene surface onto the sponge. Lift and check to see if entire surface is covered with paint. You do need a fair bit of paint, therefore ensure entire surface is covered. Use paintbrush to rid excessive paint out of ridges. 4 Press onto art paper and use palm of hand to apply pressure. Carefully lift the polystyrene and repeat above process until art paper is covered with the print. 5 The prints can be displayed as is around the room, or they can be backed onto larger pieces of coloured card/paper, or each print can be cut and displayed on different coloured cards.
