The Lockheed L-1011 TriStar was a wide-body trijet airliner manufactured by the Lockheed Corporation. It was a competitor to the Boeing 747 and McDonnell Douglas DC-10, known for its advanced technology and comfortable ride. A total of 250 Lockheed L-1011 TriStars were built. Production of the aircraft ran from 1968 to 1984. The L-1011 program was ultimately unsuccessful in achieving its sales targets, and Lockheed withdrew from the commercial airliner business after its completion.
