Although perhaps most acclaimed for his enormous oeuvre of architectural projects throughout the world, Frank Gehry also experimented in furniture design. His first line of furnitu re was called Easy Edges, beginning in 1969, which was born out of his curiosity regarding a new capacity of a seemingly flimsy, cheap, everyday material like corrugated cardboard. Through constructing multiple layers on top of one another, the material is transformed into one that is structurally sound and can withstand weight, though visually reminiscent of corduroy.
