The Pentair WhisperFlo VST Variable Speed Pool Pump EC-011533 combines the proven WhisperFlo hydraulic platform with a programmable variable-speed drive and high-efficiency permanent-magnet motor. Rated at 2.6 total horsepower with a Weighted Energy Factor of 8.4, it gives pool owners and service professionals the flexibility to match pump speed to filtration, cleaning, heating and water-feature demands. Pentair identifies EC-011533 as the e-commerce version of this pump. It carries the same published performance specifications as model 011533 while being designated by Pentair as available for online purchase. Efficient, Adjustable Circulation for In-Ground Pools Instead of operating at one fixed speed, the WhisperFlo VST can run from 450 to 3,450 RPM. Lower speeds can be used when the pool only needs routine circulation, while higher programmed speeds can support equipment or features that require additional flow. Actual settings must be selected for the specific pool, plumbing and connected equipment. The onboard drive includes a time-of-day schedule, adjustable priming, programmable Quick Clean mode, keypad lockout and alarm display with retention. A simple keypad provides direct access to pump programs and operating information without requiring an automation system for basic scheduling. WhisperFlo Hydraulic Platform This model uses Pentair's WhisperFlo wet end with 2-inch suction and discharge ports. Pentair designed it as a drop-in replacement for existing WhisperFlo pumps, which can simplify many equipment-pad upgrades. Installation conditions still need to be checked because plumbing alignment, electrical service, clearances and the overall hydraulic system can vary. A clear strainer-pot lid makes it easier to inspect the basket, and the self-priming design supports normal in-ground pool installations when the pump is installed and started according to Pentair's instructions. The thick-walled pump housing and engineered hydraulics are intended for pool, spa, water-feature and fountain circulation applications when properly sized. Durable Variable-Speed Motor and Drive The 2.6-THP motor uses a permanent-magnet design and a totally enclosed fan-cooled enclosure. The TEFC construction separates the motor's internal components from direct outside airflow while the exterior fan provides cooling. The pump's drive also includes automatic power-limiting protection and retains its 24-hour clock setting through power interruptions. EC-011533 accepts 115-volt or 208–230-volt, 50/60 Hz input. Pentair lists full-load current at 13.9 amps on 115 volts and 11.1–10.1 amps across the 208–230-volt range. The pump must be connected to the correct GFCI-protected electrical circuit and installed in accordance with Pentair's instructions and applicable codes. Automation Options The WhisperFlo VST can operate from its own drive schedule or connect to compatible external controls. Pentair supports RS-485 and digital-input control using the separately available RS-485 Automation Wiring Kit, part number 356324Z. When multiple command sources are connected, the pump prioritizes RS-485 commands, then digital inputs, then the schedule programmed at the drive. Automation compatibility and available functions depend on the control system, wiring and configuration. Confirm the intended controller and required communication kit before installation. Professional Sizing and Installation Recommended A variable-speed pump must be sized and programmed for the complete circulation system. Pipe size, suction layout, filter flow limits, heater requirements, sanitation equipment, water features and suction-outlet ratings all affect suitable operation. Pentair directs that installation and service be performed by a qualified pool service professional. Before starting the pump, the plumbing system must be complete, the strainer housing filled as instructed, all required valves positioned correctly and trapped air safely released from the filtration system. Never run the pump dry or operate it with damaged, missing or improperly rated suction covers.
