Echinodorus sunset is a warmly coloured sword plant cultivar producing leaves in rich shades of orange, amber, and burnt red — tones that evoke the warm palette of a late evening sky. New growth displays the most vivid orange-red, giving the rosette an attractive layered appearance as the colours gradually shift and deepen on mature leaves. It is easy to keep, growing under medium light without CO2 injection. The warm orange and amber tones are best maintained with adequate light and a substrate or fertiliser containing iron and micronutrients. As a root feeder, it benefits from planting in a nutritious substrate or the regular addition of root tabs.Supplied as an established potted plant, Echinodorus sunset typically reaches 30–45 cm and is best used as a background or centrepiece plant in aquariums of 150 litres or more. Its unusual warm orange tones set it apart from the more common red and green sword plants and make it a striking addition to a planted layout.
