This series of rugs is adapted from the meticulous ink drawings of Dutch artist Louis Reith. Reith's hand-drawn geometric patterns and collaged compositions are inspired by elements of design, folk art, and suggested space. His works follow a strictly calculated formula, seeking the perfect balance between foreground and background. The artist achieves freedom and movement through repetition, resulting in captivating compositions. From a distance, the artist's perfected compositions look like digitally manufactured prints, but up close, the artist's hand is revealed through handmade play, glitches, and wavering lines. These same qualities are reflected in the adapted rugs.
