Duration: 6'00" Echoes from the Forest is a solo for 5.0 Octave Marimba composed in December of 2023. This piece draws inspiration from a walk that I took in the woods one day. As I walked around, I heard sounds coming from different directions. After about 30 minutes, all of the sounds I heard melded into one and created some of the most incredible music I have ever heard. It was not necessarily the most tonal, beautiful music, but it also wasn’t dark. Peaceful, serene, and calming is the best way I can describe it. This work is an attempt to re-create the sounds I heard on that walk.
