The concave shape of the Eclipse Cushion is the key element in achieving a semi-Fowler position with 30° elevation of the trunk and head in supine. This elevated position promotes respiration and provides control for tube feeding and reflux management. The sloped sides create support and stability around the hips and pelvic area, controlling lateral pelvic tendencies. Full upper body contact enhances postural stability through tactile and proprioceptive feedback. The Eclipse Cushion can also be used in prone to raise the chest—promoting respiration, supporting trunk extension, and relieving pressure from the sacrum and coccyx. The thin ends can be tucked in to fill crevices and support the upper extremities. The weight and stability of the Eclipse Cushion can be used to promote functional activities in bed by providing additional stability for the client in an upright position or when sitting at the edge of the bed. The Eclipse Cushion can be supplemented with the NTG57 Lunar Cushions along the spine or with NTG13 Cloud Cushion to support a lumbar curve. NTG11 Lunar Cushion can be used to support the pelvic and hip positions and relieve pressure on the lumbar spine.
